The Honeymoon and Why I'll Never Cruise With Royal Carribbean Again
we decided to go on a cruise for our honeymoon. I had been on several but The Husband had never been on one so we decided it would be fun. We wanted to spend the money budgeted for the honeymoon on the actual honeymoon so we opted to cruise out of Baltimore. Our cruise left almost a week after our wedding so we spent a few nights in the Marriott on the Harbour in Baltimore. I love this hotel. I've been going there since I was a kid and have always loved it. The views are amazing and it's located in a great spot with easy access to everything downtown. We spent our days walking around, enjoying the city and being married. We did go to the Baltimore Aquarium, which is a must if you are in Baltimore. It's one of my favorite aquariums and I think one of the best ones out there.
We chose to cruise with Rotal Carribean. This was a first for me, as my family had always cruised with Disney. I'm a huge Disney fan/nerd so we always had a blast. Disney does an incredible job catering to all ages on their cruises so I had very high expectations for Royal Carribean. Since we were sailing out of Baltimore, the cruise was cheaper and so I knew that we wouldn't get one of the newest boats. Turns out we were on the oldest boat, and it showed.
Our cabin was in interior room and wasn't very large. That was totally fine for is though! Our room and the cities we ported at were the highlight of the cruise however. The boat was in obvious disrepair and was in need of serious attention. The food was sub par and the the activities on the boat were very limited. People were smoking everywhere, which for non smokers was miserable! I had heard great things about cruising with Royal Carribean so I had expected more. Sadly, I was not only unimpressed, I was bitterly disappointed.
The first place we docked was Bermuda. We loved Bermuda. We were docked there for two days which was not long enough I'm my opinion! The food was amazing, the beaches were beautiful and town was fun. Sorry for the total lack of pictures, this was pre-blog and I was terrible at taking pictures! We spent a lot of time riding round the island on the buses. Turns out the chickens on the island enjoy this too...
We then docked in Boston. We were only there a few hours, but we fell in love with Boston. I'm not sure if I would love it in February, but the Husband would! The Husband is a finance guy so we take a picture of every Federal Reserve we are near. I love how excited he is about it!
Our last port of call was Rhode Island. It was very touristy and a bit overwhelming. I would have liked a quiter or more exciting place to stop to be honest.
Like I said, we loved where we stopped but the actual boat was horrible! I've decided that we will stick with Disney when it comes to cruises.
