Hog Island Oyster Co.
Over the weekend this place was packed. There was no way we were waiting in that line for anything. However, I was determined to return and find out what all the fuss was about. But I don’t like oysters, so it had better be something else. I quickly glanced at the menu and saw that there were other options. I tucked it on the to do list and walked away.Tuesday was another conference day with very bad conference food. We talked with people and picked at rubber chicken and cold salmon. When waiting for the break, I grabbed the boyfriend and we walked over to the pier to see what a 2 p.m. Tuesday line looked like. It was just as I expected. No line.We found out what all the fuss was about. There are several award winning dishes on the menu. I selected one that was not on that list at the time not knowing there was such a list and trying to be sure I could accommodate my wheat issue. The waiter was most helpful. He pointed out two of the superior, award winning menu items that were friendly to my dietary needs. He visited the kitchen and our table a couple of times to make SURE that I could eat the selected item. We all agreed I could.Wow! Was it worth the return trip. But anything with cream and butter should be award winning. Apparently the organic farm where the shell fish come from as well as the organic vegetables is about 40 miles from the restaurant location. My advice, check this place out.[show_shopthepost_widget id="1562387"]
