Egypt: The Valley of The Kings

So after such a long/heavy/picture lacking post yesterday, I am going to give you tons of pictures to look at the rest of the week! The next day, my dad woke me up and took me back to the airport. We hopped on a plane to Luxor, Egypt (it is about a 2 hour flight). When we landed I was worried about getting to where we wanted to go. It was early and the city hadn't really woken up yet. My dad told me to trust him and he found a cab driver. He nogitated a price for the day with the driver then asked if he knew anyone who could show us around the Valley of the Kings and Luxor. Of course the guy did. So we drove through Luxor and stopped in tiny alley. The driver made a phone call and we sat there and waited for about 20 minutes. After the trip I had just had, I was convinced we were going to get murdered. But soon a man came down to the car and he turned out to be our guide. He was a professor of Egyptian Studies in the States but was on sabbatical visiting his family.Egypt: The Valley of The Kings- Breezing ThroughEgypt: The Valley of The Kings- Breezing ThroughSo we made our way through morning rush hour to the Valley of the Kings. We needed to get there as early as possible so we weren't outside is the heat. The Valley of the Kings is located ten minutes into the Sahara Desert. The Sahara gets really hot once the sun rises so you want to be as far away as possible when it does.Egypt: The Valley of The Kings- Breezing ThroughEgypt: The Valley of The Kings- Breezing ThroughEgypt: The Valley of The Kings- Breezing ThroughWhen we made it to the Valley of the Kings, our guide went and bought us tickets. You can buy tickets to get into multiple different tombs but you are limited to how many you can enter. You can also buy a separate ticket to go into King Tut's tomb. We went into three other tombs before we went to King Tut's. Sadly pictures are not allowed inside the tombs so I don't have any. When we went to King Tut's tomb we were actually able to see his body! By some coincidence the body was back in Egypt after touring the world, but only for a few days. We learned later the body was moved the next day!Egypt: The Valley of The Kings- Breezing ThroughEgypt: The Valley of The Kings- Breezing ThroughAfter barely escaping the heat of the morning, we made our way to the Temple of Luxor.Breezing Through Blog
