I have always been interested in using a Gimbal for creating videos and with the explosion of my TikTok account in the last year, it became more and more of a priority. So when I was sent the Hohem iSteady V2 AI Smartphone Gimbal, I was pretty excited to try it out.

A Gimbal is a device that you can connect your phone to that will track an object while filming. There are lots of gimbals out there and they all do similar things but have lots of different features. Let’s talk about what makes the iSteady V2 special! I spent a month using and testing this device because I wanted to be able to give you an honest and in depth review of it.

There are a lot of things that I really like about the iSteady V2, but my absolute favorite is the size! There are so many tripods out there that are bulky and hard to transport, but the iSteady V2 folds up pretty small and you can throw it in your bag. This makes it easy to travel with and the ideal device for on the go. In addition to its small size, there is also an attachment that can be screwed onto the bottom of the device to turn it into a tripod. For someone who is usually creating something and filming alone, this is crucial.

The iSteady V2 has an app that comes with it that will guide you through set up and usage. There are lots of FAQ and troubleshooting videos, making it very user friendly. There were a few times when I forgot how to use the gesture control and instead of having to contact someone in tech support or looking it up on the internet, I was able to open up the app and rewatch how to turn on and use gesture control.

Gesture control? Yes, I just said gesture control! When your phone is set up in the iSteady V2, it is also connected to the app in order to take pictures and record videos. So if you are on the other side of the room from the gimbal and you need to change the layout of the picture or video, need to start or stop recording or use the AI tracking, you can do that with a few hand gestures!

I was very impressed with the AI tracking on the iSteady V2. Once it locks onto the desired object, your phone can track the object 360 degrees. I tested this out by putting the iSteady V2 on my coffee table and then walking around it. My phone followed me completely around and didn’t even trip up! I like to move around when I talk and being able to do that while recording content can be hard. So having a gimbal that will follow me while I am talking and pacing is great! There is also a set of buttons on the front of the iSteady V2 that you can use to adjust where the camera is pointing to ensure optimal tracking. This makes starting a video much easier!

Like I mentioned, I spent a month with this device to make sure I was really comfortable with it and could give you a really honest review. This is important to me with any product review I do, I don’t ever want to promote a product to you all that I don’t use and love myself.

I would HIGHLY recommend the iSteady V2. There are a lot of gimbals out there ranging from $30 to $500, so it can be hard to decide which one is the right one to purchase. At $120, the iSteady V2 is a very reasonable price and delivers more than a lot of other tech devices promise to. I would say you will get the most for your money and your time with the iSteady V2!
