Café de la Presse
The Boyfriend had visited this little French café just outside the Chinese gates once before. He had raved about the food and wanted to share – or just go again. We walked from our conference venue by the Pier up (the hill passed the Trans America building) to Chinatown. We contemplated for a moment eating at a Chinese restaurant somewhere in Chinatown. However, when Yelp couldn’t give us a good recommendation, we changed our mind.Having no other point of reference, we decided to find our way back to the Café de la Presse.By the time we reached the café it was dark, late, cool, and we were hungry. It is difficult to find French food that I can eat. However, the chef accommodated. He grilled salmon with a lovely cream sauce. I could have licked the plate. The Boyfriend had beef bourguignon (apparently his staple at this café).I always order a Crème brûlée at a French restaurant. It is my standard no matter where I am in the world. I have eaten some delicious Crème brulee. Café de al Presse isn’t one of them. The crust on the top was caramelized perfectly. But the crème was not very tasty.Otherwise, dinner was superb and the atmosphere classic European.[show_shopthepost_widget id="1562383"]
