Our driver picked us up at the airport having waited two hours for our delayed flight from Istanbul. I have learned from many frustrating transportation experiences that it is well worth the extra cost to have a driver waiting at the airport. He took us to the Boscolo Exedra Signature Rome in the center of the city showing us the sites along the way. It was nearly 1 a.m.

There are pluses to that time of day—not much traffic or many pedestrians. It was a holiday weekend in Europe giving that extraordinary meaning. We discovered the crowds the next day and they were impressive.

Once we arrived at the hotel there were no bellmen to assist with luggage, so we carried it all up the steps ourselves (I always taught the kids, if you can't carry it you can't bring it).   At least the lobby was open so we could check in.

The lobby was small but stunning.

With a unique shop, Boutique Grazia Chic. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and designer of the bags and jewelry, Romana Busani, while staying at the hotel.

She was beautifully Italian. Short cropped hair, chic style. Her stunning products are all manufactured in Italy. Boutique Grazia Chic.   For information regarding her products you can contact her directly at romana.busani@gmail.com

I cannot say that I am crazy about critters on jewelry. But it seems to be all the rage, in Italy anyway. While I did not try it on, that necklace looked heavy. She has many jewelry pieces to choose from and her bags are all luxury leather in vibrant colors.

We enjoyed a most sumptuous hot chocolate and cookies in the lobby late one evening after a very long day of touring and investigating the city. The machine broke while mixing our drinks so the server provided the cookies as an offering. Chuck says they were most delicious.

Our room was lovely -- A very large room appointed with the necessities to keep us comfortable and feeling at home.

The room was beautifully decorated with fine wallpaper, drapes, crown molding, but most importantly a walk out balcony.... with an incredible view.

All within walking distance of the city center.

Boscolo Exetra Signature Rome definitely rates five plus stars in my book -- but not without a cost -- very pricy. $200+ per night (and 100,000 Marriott points) for three nights. Location location location!!
