A few weeks ago I had the incredible opportunity to go to Girl’s Camp with the 12-18 year old girls from church. There were 200 girls there in total and we had about 35 from our congregation. When I first agreed to go, I thought we would be cabin camping. That’s how we had done Girl’s Camp when I was a teenager. Turns out we were tent camping! If you know me at all, you know I don’t camp…ever. I still went. And I am so glad I did! It was really fun to be out in the woods in nature and kind of a relief to be disconnected from the world for a week.
While we were camping, it rained twice. The first night the girls were there it rained in the evening. Since there was thunder and lightening, we had to pack all of the girls into cars to wait out the storm. Turns out, the girls loved it! When the storm stopped, we had all of the girls check their tents to see if their belongings were wet. We had en entire tent of 7 girls whose belongings were soaked! We had to do a little rearranging to the tents but the girls did great!
Between the hikes, the lake, fun activities, celebrating birthdays and glow sticks dances, these girls had tons of fun! I am so glad I went!
